Activating the call tree

The call tree is generated from the organisation structure, so there is no separate list to keep. When you activate it, every person is asked to report in; anyone not reached is escalated one level up; and the coverage view shows who is reached, pending or escalated.

Who may do it: the BCP head activates; an activated operator operates.

Call tree and escalationThe call tree is built from the organisation structure; the team head leads the team room; a member who has not reported is escalated to the head, then to the next level up; HR reads every room.TEAM ROOMNOT REPORTEDNEXT LEVELLine executivesees the reporting lineHRreads every roomTeam headleads · calls · reports forTeam memberchecks inTeam memberchecks inTeam memberchecks inLEGENDReporting lineEscalationRead only
Members report in; whoever has not been reached is escalated to the team head, then one level up. HR reads every room.
  • Each person’s node is their position in the organisation structure: their team head, and that head’s head.
  • Each node’s alternate is the person one level up.
  • Teams that run a critical activity in the BIA are reached first.

When the structure changes, the tree changes with it.

  1. With the level at Activated, open Command and then Call tree.
  2. Tap Activate call tree. Every person receives a report in request, and every team room opens.
  3. Watch coverage:
    • Reached — the person has reported in, or a team head has reported for them;
    • Pending — asked, not yet reached;
    • Escalated — not reached within the set time and passed one level up.
  4. Follow up escalated people with their team heads in the team rooms.

A person not reached within the time your company sets is escalated to their team head. If the team head is not reached either, the request goes to the alternate one level up, and so on. Each room records who was notified in whose place.

  • Generated, never typed. The tree comes from the organisation structure; there is no separate call list.
  • Critical activities first. Order follows the BIA’s critical activities.
  • Coverage is stamped: who was reached, when, and by whom.
  • A drill is logged. A call-tree drill creates its exercise record automatically, with its coverage figures.
