BCP levels
The BCP level is the company’s state for a hazard: Normal, Standby, Activated or Closed. The BCP head orders it. Every change is pushed to every staff phone immediately, and no level is saved without a note.
Who may do it: the BCP head orders the level. The BCP head, the alternate, or an activated operator enters it. See Command and operation.
The levels
Section titled “The levels”| Level | Means | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | No incident is open for this hazard | The hazard page and preventive warnings run as usual |
| Standby | The hazard is expected; prepare | An incident opens; check-in opens; staff are asked to prepare |
| Activated | The plan is in force | Check-in stays open; the call tree can be activated |
| Closed | The incident is over | Check-in stops; a draft loss event is created; the timeline is ready to export — see Closing an incident |
Your organisation can configure its own wording for each level; the four states stay the same.
Change the level
Section titled “Change the level”- Open Command and choose the hazard.
- Choose the new level — open at Standby or Activated, raise, lower or close.
- Write the note: what the order is and why — for example “River at warning level; work from home tomorrow.”
- Tap Save. The level changes and every staff phone is notified at once.
When you enter a level as the operator, record whose order it is; the screen pre-fills the BCP head.
What the system does or refuses
Section titled “What the system does or refuses”- A note is required. A level without a note is not saved.
- Every change is pushed — open, raise, lower and close — to every staff phone with notifications on. There is no daily cap and no second confirmation step.
- The order and the entry are both recorded: who ordered, who entered, when, and the note.
- Only your company sets its level. A group advisory from the parent is shown beside your level and never changes it — see Group advisory is display-only.
- Each level is a KRI observation in ERM Core: Normal → Green, Standby → Amber, Activated → Red, with the note as the explanation. See External KRIs from BCP Core.
