Hazard page and early warning
The hazard page shows what the hazards your company watches are doing right now, each figure with its source and the time it was read. When a value reaches your company’s warning criteria, BCP Core warns you before the hazard arrives, so you can prepare.
Who uses it: every employee. The hazard set and the warning criteria are set for your company by its BCP head.
The hazard page
Section titled “The hazard page”At the top is your company’s current BCP level, as the BCP head ordered it. Below it, a card for each hazard your company watches:
| Hazard | What the card shows |
|---|---|
| Weather and rainfall | Forecast for the coming days, rainfall over the last 24 hours |
| Water levels | River and canal levels, flood points and flooded roads near your company’s sites |
| Earthquake | Recent earthquake alerts that can affect your company’s sites |
| Air quality | PM2.5 and heat index, hourly and today’s maximum |
| Public health and civil unrest | Official notices for the scenario in force |
Every card names its source — the official agency or data provider — and the time of the reading. A card that has not been refreshed shows the time it was last read.
Each scenario also carries short guides — for example a car stalled in water, water entering the home, or being unable to reach the office — and one-tap emergency numbers.
Preventive warnings
Section titled “Preventive warnings”A preventive warning arrives as a push notification and as a message in the app when a hazard is expected to reach your company’s criteria — typically the evening before and early on the day.
When you receive one:
- Open it and read what it asks you to do — for example leave early, work from home tomorrow, or avoid a route.
- Check the hazard page for the figures behind it.
- Do what it asks, and set your work status if it asks you to work from home.
A preventive warning does not change the BCP level and does not open an incident. Only the BCP head orders a level — see BCP levels.
What the system does or refuses
Section titled “What the system does or refuses”- Source and time on every figure. No reading is shown without them.
- Your company’s hazard set. You see the hazards your company watches; the app switches scenario without an update to your phone.
- Warnings go to staff with notifications on. See Install and notifications.
