Install and notifications
BCP Core is a web app: you add it to your phone’s home screen from the browser, with nothing to install from an app store. Then you allow notifications, because every change of BCP level is pushed to every staff phone the moment it is made.
Who may do it: every employee on the staff register.
iPhone
Section titled “iPhone”- Open your company’s BCP Core address in Safari and sign in.
- Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Open BCP Core from the new icon on your home screen.
- When BCP Core asks to send notifications, tap Allow.
On iPhone, notifications work only for BCP Core opened from the home-screen icon, so always open it from there.
Android
Section titled “Android”- Open your company’s BCP Core address in Chrome and sign in.
- Open the browser menu and tap Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Open BCP Core from the new icon.
- When BCP Core asks to send notifications, tap Allow.
Why notifications matter
Section titled “Why notifications matter”- Every BCP level change is pushed — opening, raising, lowering and closing — to every staff phone at once. There is no daily cap and no extra step: a warning app that does not warn is an app you do not need.
- Preventive warnings arrive before a hazard hits, so you can leave early, work from home tomorrow or avoid a route. See Hazard page and early warning.
- Company announcements and call-tree activation reach you the same way.
If you turn notifications off, you can still open BCP Core and see the current level, but you will not be told when it changes.
What the system does or refuses
Section titled “What the system does or refuses”- Staff register only. An e-mail that is not on the staff register cannot sign in.
- Remember this device. After you sign in with your authenticator code, you can choose Remember this device; the phone stays signed in for the number of days your company sets (30 by default).
- No forced sign-out during an incident. While an incident is open, BCP Core does not ask you to sign in again.
- One account for both modules. The same sign-in works in ERM Core. See Signing in.
