Amounts, currencies and FX

A loss event records its amounts in the currency the loss arose in, digital assets included, and converts them to THB under the group’s FX policy. Every change to the position is added to the valuation history; nothing is overwritten.

Who may do it: the reporter when recording the event; the Entity Risk Manager afterwards. See Roles and permissions.

AmountMeaning
GrossThe full loss before any recovery
RecoveredWhat has been recovered — insurance, repayment, reversal
NetGross less recovered, computed by the system
  • Original currency. Enter each amount in the currency the loss arose in. Digital assets are recorded in their own unit.
  • Conversion to THB. The system converts each amount to THB on the rate basis that the FX policy defines, and shows the rate basis it used.
  • Unknown rate basis is refused. The system does not accept an amount whose rate basis it cannot determine.
  1. Open the loss event.
  2. Add the change — a recovery received, or a revaluation of the gross amount.
  3. Save. The system adds a new entry to the valuation history, converts it to THB, and recomputes the net amount and the materiality tier.
  • The valuation history is append-only. Earlier entries are kept as they were, each with who and when. See Who-filed is stamped.
  • The latest position drives the tier. The materiality tier always follows the most recent valuation.
  • Net is computed, never typed. See Computed, never typed.
  • An amount with an unknown rate basis is not saved.
